Focus time

Apps I allowed are being blocked

If another screen-time app also has Screen Time access, a known iOS issue can block your allowed apps with Apple's own “Restricted” screen. It looks different from the Dopalock shield, which is how you can tell them apart.

  1. Open Settings and go to Screen Time on your phone
  2. Turn off Screen Time access for every screen-time app other than Dopalock (deleting them works too)
  3. Start focus time again

This is an iOS issue Apple is aware of. It does not happen when Dopalock is the only app with Screen Time access.

Can I end focus time early?

You can. End it any time from the timer screen during focus time.

If you stop before the timer runs out, you earn Dopa Keys for the minutes you actually focused.

Locking

The lock is not working, or no shield appears

First, open Settings and go to Screen Time on your phone, and check that Dopalock still has access.

If access is on and the lock still does not kick in, toggling it off and on almost always brings it back.

  1. Turn Dopalock's access off in Settings, under Screen Time
  2. Turn it back on
  3. Reopen Dopalock
Can I use Dopalock on a child account in Family Sharing?

No. On a child account managed through Family Sharing, iOS does not let Dopalock get Screen Time access.

There is no workaround for this right now.

Notifications

I am not getting notifications

A Focus mode (Do Not Disturb and friends) can hold Dopalock's notifications back. Allow Dopalock in Settings, under Focus.

If notifications are off entirely, turn them on in Settings, under Apps → Dopalock → Notifications.

Dopa Keys

How do Dopa Keys work?

Finish focus time and you earn Dopa Keys for the time you focused.

Spend the keys you earned to unlock your apps. By default one key buys one minute, and Pro lets you adjust how much time one key buys. Lock again before the time is up and the keys you did not spend come back.

Purchases & account

New phone or fresh install — how do I get everything back?

As long as you are signed in, your history follows you to the new phone.

Your subscription comes back through “Restore purchases” in Settings.

Which apps get locked and which stay allowed is tied to Screen Time on the phone itself, so pick them again on the new one.
